On March 19, 2016, Organization of Nature Adore Student from Faculty of Information Technology (MAPALA FTI) held rafting activity called “Open Rafting”. This event was held on the Cicatih river, Sukabumi and attended by 43 participants. The participants compose of students, lecturers and employees of the Tarumanagara University and other public. Participants depart from Tarumanagara University Campus at 06.30 by bus. And srraived at the base camp at 11.30. After lunch, the participants went to the starting point. Open Rafting activity is guided by experienced guides. Before starting, the participants are divided into groups according to the boat (lifeboat) which will be boarded. Each boat is filled out by 6 to 7 participants, so there were 7 boats total.
The participants were very enthusiastic during this rafting event. “This activity can eliminate the fatigue and stress while in town,” said Jimmy, one of Open Rafting participant. This activity ended at 16:30 with the arrival of all the participants at the finish point. Here participants can wash up, eat afternoon meal and rest a moment. Before returning to the University, the organizers give souvenirs to all participants.
Verdy, as Chairman of this activity, expects these activities may be carried out annually. It is intended that participants can gain experience in rafting and release participants from the routine activities in the city. Furthermore, he said that rafting can also increase awareness and interaction with nature.
