Untar commemorates the 5th International Conference on Entrepreneurship and Business Management (ICEBM) after its first successful arrangement in Jakarta, followed by Bali, Penang, and Bangkok. This year’s conference takes place at Kun Shan University, Tainan, Taiwan. The event is opened by the Vice-Rector of Tarumanagara University, Dr. Gatot P. Soemartono, and the President of Khun San University, Prof. Yan-Kuin Su on Thursday (17/11) at the International Conference Hall of Khun San University.
The two-day event has a theme “Entrepreneurship and Management in Turbulent Global Environment: from Start-Up to Global Business,” and was attended by participants from many countries such as Sweden, Brazil, China, India, Malaysia, and Ethiopia. One of the purposes of the Conference actually is to provide a forum where people can get together and share their findings. It facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experience of both practitioners and academics in entrepreneurship, business, and management.
Dr. Soemartono, in his opening speech, emphasizes the importance of the theme for the difficulty that a start-up must encounter when it enters global or cross-border transactions of resources between two or many nations. “The theme is perfectly suitable for those who try to understand and anticipate any possible threats and opportunities, which come along with the rapid change in the global environment,” he said.
The President of Kun Shan University also conveys his perspective on the importance of the conference. He believes that entrepreneurship has become a global dream for a lot of people due to the technology development and intensive support from the government. However, many are still unaware of the substantial challenges of entrepreneurship turning a dream into reality. “This conference is expected to produce significant results, which are not only how to accelerate the economic development, but also assist the people to reach their goals,” Prof. Yan-Kuin Su closes the opening speech.
Keynote speakers include Prof. Chaidir A. Makarim (Untar), Mr. Steve Hsu (CEO of TXA), Dr. Rajendran Muthuveloo (University Sains Malaysia), Dr. Teoh Ai Ping (Universiti Sains Malaysia), and Mr. Tony Antonio (Universitas Ciputra).
