The atmosphere of the 70th graduation colored with the national cultures and Sumpah Pemuda
The 70th graduation of Untar is special, as it fell on the same day as Hari Sumpah Pemuda. 89 years ago, the youths have agreed to share one country, one nation, and one language, which is Indonesia. The spirit that the youths possessed is very relevant to the current conditions, as the graduates, who are a part of the younger generation, should be able to uphold the noble values of Sumpah Pemuda in entering the professional world.
This statement was delivered by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Agustinus Purna Irawan, at the 70th graduation ceremony, on Saturday (28/10) at the Jakarta Convention Center. The graduation ceremony was attended by the Coordinator of Private Universities III Region Coordination (Kopertis), Dr. Ir. Illah Sailah., MS, the Founder of Tarumanagara Foundation, Drs. Indra Gunawan Masman., MBA, and the Chairman of Tarumanagara Foundation, Dr. Gunardi S.H., M.H. There are 1,303 graduates come from the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programmes, as well as from the professional education of eight faculties and also postgraduate.
The Rector gave advices the graduates to implement the competence that has been received throughout the learning process, and use it for the benefit of themselves, the society, and nation in accordance with the ideal intellection of the youths 89 years ago, who aspired to build one nation and homeland.
Meanwhile, the Founder of Tarumanagara Foundation, Drs. Indra Gunawan Masman, MBA, in his opening speech, stresses the importance of implementing the values of Untar, which are integrity, professionalism, and entrepreneurship. He believes that these values have great power if they are actually implemented properly. “The graduates must be bold to face new challenges and put into practice what they have learned. They must not merely understand the theories, but instead, they have to be able to actually apply those theories into practice,” states the Founder of Tarumanagara Foundation.
During the 70th Graduation Ceremony, the Chairman of Kopertis III Dr. Illah Sailah M.S., had the opportunity to hand the certificate for the A (Excellence) accreditation from the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) to the Rector of Untar. At the same occasion, the Director of Learning of Untar, Dr. Eko Harry Susanto M.Si and the Chairman of the Alumni Daily of the Faculty of Economics, Hadi Cahyadi, SE., MBA, each delivered a speech in the morning and afternoon sessions.
In accordance with Hari Sumpah Pemuda, the graduation ceremony was colored with national culture nuance where the committee wears traditional costumes from all over Indonesia. The event also features a traditional dance, as well as the recitation of the youths’ pledge, followed by all the graduates. (Nat/DC)
