The Vice-Rector Dr. Gatot P. Soemartono S.E., S.H., M.M., LL.M. hosted Prof. John Vong, PhD from National University of Singapore (NUS) on Friday (16/6) at the Main Building of Untar Campus 1. The meeting is to discuss various developments in the academic world, as well as building cooperation among universities in ASEAN in the field of research and publication.
Prof. Vong, who has a lot of experiences in the field of research, scholarly publication, entrepreneurship education, and who often conducted cooperation with world-class institutions on technology projects and their implementation, invites Untar lecturers for a colaboration. The forms of colaboration that he offered, among others, are to conduct trainings and seminars for various disciplines, as well as a joint research and publication.
“There needs to be an awareness to build a university in ASEAN that can keep up with the development of the world education,” he said. Prof. Vong has been a guest lecturer in various notable universities. Today when the world is entering into the Asian era, it is necessary for universities across ASEAN countries to collaborate that can increase the quality of education and that can be able to face global competition.
Vice-Rector Dr. Soemartono welcomes the initiative. There is a similar goal that Untar is trying to achieve, particularly in the development of education that produces entrepreneurs from the academic world. “Untar needs to take in the positive points from what Prof. Vong has presented,” said the Vice-Rector during the meeting which was also attended by Director of Research and Community Services, Dr. Jap Tjie Beng.
