Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) and Indonesian Legal Profession Association (APHO) commenced a training for Legal Drafting Trainer for 3 days and opened by the Rector of Untar, Prof. Agustinus Purna Irawan, on Wednesday (1/3) at Tarumanagara Knowledge Center, Untar. The General Directorate of Law from the Ministry of Law and Human Right, Prof. Dr. Widodo Ekatjahjana attended the event as a keynote speaker. Vice Rector of Untar, Dr. Gatot P. Soemartono, Head Secretary of Untar, H. Rasji, S.H., M.H., and Dean of the Law Faculty of Untar, Dr. Ahmad Sudiro, who also is the Head of the Association Leader’s Council, attended the event.
Rector expects this event to provide a better understanding of regulation to the society in order to prevent multi interpretation. “Law must prevail in accordance with law and regulation,” he said.
On the other hand, Prof. Widodo Ekatjahjana, said that the president has instructed the regulation reduction to untie the government from the regulation itself during his presentation on “Numerous Issues on Law Construction in Indonesia”. Currently, the institution he led is requested to seek a solution on the high numbers of enacted regulation. “Through this kind of event, hopefully, we could reform the regulations,” he said. He also emphasized the role of Pancasila (The five principles of Indonesia) as the mother of all law that serves as the foundation of all law in Indonesia.
Legal drafting is arranging or designing the regulations. According to the Dean of The Law Faculty, Dr. Ahmad Sudiro, the legal profession is highly demanded by the society and this kind of event needs to be commenced as it draws more attention from the society. (PA)
