17th until 19th January 2017, University Robotics Team has attended the 24th Singapore Robotics Games 2017 (24th SRG 2017). 24th SRG in 2017 is a prestigious robot contest ASEAN region followed by several ASEAN countries. The contest is organized in cooperation with the IEEE Robotics and Singapore Automation Society Chapter and the Institute of Technical Education, Nanyang Polytechnic, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Robotics Games Society (Singapore), Singapore Polytechnic, Science Centre Singapore and Temasek Polytechnic. SRG 24th 2017 was held on 17 to 19 January 2016 in the Science Centre, Singapore. The contest is contesting 16 categories of competition.
On the 24th SRG 2017, the Robotics team UNTAR followed Humanoid Robot Competition category, and RC Underwater Robot Competition. Robotics UNTAR Team were headed to 24th SRG 2017 consists of seven students, namely Danieal (Computer Science), Januar Chayadi (Electrical Engineering), Anthony Susanto (Industrial Engineering), Jessica (Computer Science), Selna Rustam (Industrial Engineering), Aprianto Halim (Mechanical Engineering), and Kevin (Electrical Engineering), and Mr. Didi Widya Utama, ST, MT as lecturer. Robots that can be entered at the 24th Singapore Robotics Games 2017 is DEVATA and PANDA on Humanoid Robot Competition category, as well as ROAKS_1 and ROAKS_2 the RC category Underwater Robot Competition.
Humanoid Robot Competition fight for robots that resemble human (humanoid) with robotic missions must walk follows the line of white patterned triangles, and had kicked the table tennis ball (waypoints) which is on each line intersection. While the RC category Underwater Robot would battle to dive and move in the water with the ability to move marbles as much as possible contained in the middle of each edge of the aquarium to aquarium.
In the category of RC Underwater Robot Competition, ROAKS_1 obtaining serial numbers 23, and ROAKS_2 with the serial number 15. In the game this year, ROAKS_1 best Performance demonstrates that managed to move seven pieces of marble with the acquisition value of 13 points. With these values, UNTAR Robotics team successful is ranked fifth out of 27 teams above ITE College West, Bandung Institute of Technology, and other universities.
In the category of Humanoid Robot Competition, Robotics Team UNTAR obtain a serial number 4 for PANDA, and 10 for Devata. The goddess of fortune seemed to be in the side of the Devata which are able to finish the race by touching the waypoint with 2 pieces with a time of 3 minutes 35 seconds. With the acquisition of robot Devata have the opportunity to continue the match to the final round with against 3 other teams from Nanyang Polytechnic Singapore. In the final round, Devata again showed his ability by touching one waypoint with a time of 2 minutes and managed to defeat two other robot from Nanyang Polytechnic. With the acquisition, Devata awarded First Runner Up.
With such results, Robotics Team UNTAR immediately prepare to return for follow Singapore Robotic Games the next year and a similar robot competition on other occasions.
