Faculty of Medicine and Psychology of Universitas Tarumanagara holds a symposium and workshop of studying difficulties in an event themed “Exploring Learning Disabilities” on 18-19 February 2017. The opening ceremony took place at the Auditorium of the Main Building on Saturday (18/2) and the Rector, represented by the head of secretary of Untar, H. Rasji, S.H., M.H., opened the event. Attending the event were The Dean of The Faculty of medicine, Dr. dr. Meilani Kumala MS. Sp.GK(K), the board of manager of the Indonesian Doctor Association (IDI), Indonesia Dyslexia Association (ADI) and Dyslexia Parents Support Group Indonesia (DPSG Indonesia).
The aim of this event is to provide a wider understanding and insight on the kids studying complications. The seminar involves doctors, psychologists, teachers and parents. The seminar took place at the Campus of Untar, meanwhile the workshop was held at Hermina Kemayoran Hospital.
The speakers in the event are Prof. Angela Facett from university of Swansea and British Dyslexia Association, dr. Purboyo Solek Sp.A.(K) from Padjajaran University and dr. Kristiantini Dewi, Sp.A. from the Indoensia Dyslexia Association.
The Head of Secretary of Untar, H. rasji, S.H., M.H., stated that this event will give hopes for those with deficiency, especially for childrens with studying difficulties. Every citizen has the right for education, including those with such weaknesses. The solution to this issue shall be sought and Untar is ready to facilitate and solve the issue.
On the other hand, Dr. dr. Meilani Kumala MS. Sp.GK(K) expects this event to be beneficial as it discusses the relevant factors for those with studying difficulties. “This topic is simple but own a large scope in order to diagnose the issue and lead to an early proper treatment,” she says.
Aside from the seminar and workshop, a popular poster competition was also held for high schools and college students from areas in Indonesia. This competition is supported by Indonesia Dyslexia Associaton (ADI), Dyslexia Parents Support Group Indonesia (DPSG Indoensia) and Hermina Kemayoran Hospital. (PA)
