Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Tarumanagara (FK UNTAR), Dr. dr. Meilani Kumala MS. Sp.GK(K) takes the oath of 43 young doctors at the Auditorium of Tarumanagara University, Tuesday (11/10). This 112th doctor inauguration is witnessed by Rector of Tarumanagara University, Prof. Dr. Agustinus Purna Irawan and Secretary of Tarumanagara Foundation, Dr. Ariawan Gunadi.
In his welcoming speech, the Rector states that doctor is an honorable and sacred profession so that its professionalism and ethics shall always be preserved. They should always stay away from anything harming the society. “Do not solely go after fortunes, but prioritize humanity and listen to your conscience,” said Rector Purna Irawan.
The Dean encourages the graduates to keep a life-time learning by updating their knowledge and skills. Dr. Meilani also instructs the young doctors to work professionally and maintain their alma mater’s reputation.
Tarumanagara Foundation, represented by Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, conveys its supports to medicine faculty’s effort in producing competent and professionally ethical graduates. This effort is in line with Tarumanagara Foundation’s mission and vision emphasizing on education and medical benefactions. He also said that Indonesia is facing a serious challenge in the medical field for a lack of doctors. For this reason, it is highly expected that UNTAR’s graduates would be able to fill the gap and dedicate themselves to serve the society in that field.
Of 43 inducted graduates, 19 are awarded with cum laude. The Medicine Faculty of Tarumanagara University has so far produced 3.549 graduates.(GS)
