Students may switch their course to another Faculty/Program as well as upgrade their Program (from Diploma to Bachelor) within Tarumanagara University in every semester.  Course shifting that takes place within Tarumanagara University is called internal course shifting. Students may decide to shift their program due to the students’ will or as a result of counsel from the University. The University’s counsel may be given by the Dean or Head of the Program, based on the student’s academic capacity.

This internal course shifting may happen between programs in a faculty or between departments in a different faculty, which is divided into two categories:

  • Internal course shifting into a program within the same level, for example, switching between Bachelor programs, between Master programs, and between Doctoral Programs.
  • Internal course shifting to upgrade the level of the program, which includes course shifting from the Diploma Program to the Bachelor program internally.

INTERNAL COURSE SHIFTING BETWEEN FACULTIES/PROGRAMS

The Requirements for Course Shifting:

  • Students must have studied for at least 1 (one) semester.
  • Students must have a 2.00 GPA at the minimum (or according to the policy of the desired program).
  • Students must have fulfilled the academic requirements (having minimum credits) determined by each faculty/program.
  • Students must have fulfilled the financial administration conditions determined by the university.

 The Application for Course Shifting:

  • The application form for course shifting can be submitted to the Vice Rector For Academic and Student Affairs along with an academic transcript and mailing address.

 The Schedule for Course Shifting Application:

  • For odd-semesters, the application for course shifting must be received no later than the end of June in every current year.
  • For even-semesters, the application for course shifting must be received no later than the end of December in every current year.
  • For applications received later than the two months mentioned above, applications will be processed in the following semester.

 The Approval/Refusal for Course Shifting:

  • The approval/refusal for the course shifting proposed will be directly sent to applicants:

–          For the acceptance in odd-semesters, no later than the end of July in every current year.
–          For the acceptance in even-semesters, no later than the end of January in every current year.

  • The approval for course shifting will be attached with:

–      The equalization of study-loads determined by the desired program.
–       Study-loads (credits) that are required to be taken.
–       The length of the study period allowed.

COURSE SHIFTING TO UPGRADE THE PROGRAM LEVEL (DIPLOMA TO BACHELOR)

The Requirements for Course Shifting:

  • Students must have graduated from a diploma program (State diploma degree for graduates of the year 2001 and before).
  • Spaces are still available in the desired program.
  • Students must have a minimum of a 2.50 GPA.
  • Students must come from the same major/background.
  • Students must have fulfilled other academic requirements determined by the desired program.
  • Students must have fulfilled the financial administration conditions determined by the university.

 The Application for Course Shifting:

  • The application form for shifting courses can be submitted to the Rector through the academic administration bureau along with a Certificate of Graduation, Academic Transcript and Mailing address 

The Schedule for Course Shifting Application:

  • Similar to those in the shifting course between faculties/departments/programs.
  • For applications received later than the two months mentioned above, applications will be processed the following semester.

 The Approval/Refusal for Course Shifting:

  • Approval/refusal for course shifting requests is similar to those applied in the course shifting policies stated above, between faculties and programs.

COURSE SHIFTING FROM OTHER HIGHER-EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS                            

Students from other higher-educational institutions may apply to transfer into the faculties/departments/programs in Tarumanagara University every semester. The acceptance of course-shifting students from external institutions is limited and selective. 

The Requirements for Course Shifting:

  • Students must provide a reference letter and an academic transcript from the original higher-educational institution. For course shifting requests from foreign higher educational institutions, the students must attach a recommendation letter from the Ministry of National Education and the General Directorate for higher education (the bureau of cooperations among higher educational institutions).
  • The origin and destination fields of study must be similar.
  • The students’ resignation period from the original higher-educational institutions must not exceed 2 (two) semesters.
  • Spaces are still available in the desired program.
  • Students must have a minimum of a 2.50 GPA.
  • Students must be prepared to fulfill other academic requirements determined by the desired program.
  • Students must be prepared to fulfill the financial administration conditions determined by the university.

The Application for Course Shifting:

  • The application form must be submitted to the Rector through the academic administration bureau along with:

–          The reference letter from the original higher-educational institution.
–          Academic Transcript
–          Mailing Address

 The Schedule for Course Shifting Applications:

  • For odd-semesters, the application for course shifting must be received no later than the end of June in every current year.
  • For even-semesters, the application for course shifting must be received no later than the end of December in every current year.
  • For applications received later than the two months mentioned above, applications will be processed the following semester.

The Authentication Process

Students requesting to transfer to Tarumanagara University from other higher-educational institutions will be verified regarding their authenticity from the original institutions.
