The Indonesia’s Constitutional Court and the Universitas Tarumanagara Law Faculty organize a national constitutional moot court competition to contest “the Chief Justice Constitutional Court Trophy,” held from 18 to 22 October 2016. The competition was officially opened on Tuesday (18/10) by Chief Justice Prof. Arief Hidayat and Rector of Universitas Tarumanagara Prof. Agustinus Purna Irawan at the Constitutional Court. Socialization to the competing participants about citizen constitutional rights had been carried out before the opening.
Chief Justice Hidayat in his welcoming speech reminds students attending the event about the importance of Indonesia’s law profession, which is reflected by the light of deity. For this reason, they should honor all the positive and good principles when in the future they enter into practicing law. In addition, he emphasizes that the event be beneficial to students, who have learned theories in the class, because they will have a comprehensive understanding on how to implement the theories into the real world.
Rector Purna Irawan hopes that the event would strengthen the relationship between Untar and Constitutional Court, while the competing students would be able to develop their argument skills, leading to improving their legal competence.
84 competitors from 12 universities across the country join the competition, where they can also attend a debate-training program provided during the event. (GS)
