The Faculty of Communication has all the potentials to face challenges and move forward. Therefore, the foundation and development plans must be strengthened in response to the fierce competitions and changes. This statement was delivered by the Rector Prof. Dr. Agustinus Purna Irawan when attending the anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Communication at Bandar Jakarta Baywalk Jakarta on Wednesday (12/7). The event was also attended by the Vice-Rector, Dr. R.M. Gatot P. Soemartono, S.E., S.H., M.M., LL.M., the Director of Learning, Dr. Eko Harry Susanto, who also was himself the Dean of the Faculty of Communication for the 2006 – 2014 period, lecturers, employees, students and alumni of the Faculty.
The Rector conveys that currently the Faculty of Communication has produced alumni proven to be successful both in the professional world and the entrepreneurial world. This is a great asset for the future development of the Faculty. Moreover, he adds, it is necessary to build a large network with various stakeholders to further consolidate the Faculty.
The Dean of Faculty of Communication, Dr. Riris Loisa, also hopes that after 11 years togetherness, the academic community of the Faculty will always keep their work and spirit high. “Surely the Faculty should keep improving and aiming to the betterment, moving forward,” states Dr. Riris.
At this event, awards are given to lecturers, employees, students and alumni for their achievements. One of the recipients is Helen Oktavia – a student of the Faculty who was recently invited by President Joko Widodo for being an inspiring youth. The anniversary of this youngest Faculty of Untar should have fallen on June 22nd, but since it was coincident with Eid al-Fitr 2017 leave, the commemoration was held only recently.
After more than a decade, the Faculty of Communication has made its mark. One of the things that the Faculty can take pride in is the success of its alumni. A number of the alumni have dived into the professional and entrepreneurial worlds. Glory Oyong is one of them. The Faculty of Communication alumnus has successfully pursued a career in the broadcasting world, a career that is consistent with the field of study that she was keen on during college. Furthermore, there are a lot of alumni who become successful entrepreneurs. Such accomplishments are obtained through the learning process and the interactions in the Faculty, holding the value of humanity, entrepreneurship, professionalism and integrity.
